Is "You never work for a poorer person" a logical argument for lowering taxes for the rich?

"You never work for a poorer person" is an argument some put forth to argue why taxes for rich should be lowered. Is this a correct statement? If not, what is the hole in this statement?

It looks to me it's true...

  1. The dot.com bubble already proved that statement to be incorrect. During that time, businesses were 100% financed, with the entrepreneurs owing nothing but their loan papers and not even making a profit with the loan proceeds. They in fact were "poorer" than many of those who worked for them who were not in debt and had assets because they owned nothing and owed more than they owned.
